How the calculator works
Paying upfront means a one-off build price followed by monthly running costs for hosting, your domain, email, security and changes. Paying monthly means one fixed price that covers the build and the running. The calculator adds both up month by month over the period you choose.
Two numbers usually matter most. The first is the cash you need in month one, which is where a big quote hurts a small business. The second is the break-even point: the month where the upfront option, if it ever does, becomes the cheaper of the two. We show both, because the honest answer depends on how long you keep the site and how cheaply you can run it yourself.
UK pricing guides for 2026 put freelance builds at roughly £800 to £3,000 and regional agencies at £2,000 to £6,000, with running costs often adding £100 to £300 a month. Frequently asked questions
How does the website cost calculator work?+
You enter the quote you have been given for a website, what it will cost each month to run, and how long you expect to keep it. The calculator adds those up and puts them next to the same period on a Forte pay monthly plan, then shows the cash you need in month one and the point where one option overtakes the other.
Where do the starting figures come from?+
From 2026 UK pricing guides. They put freelance builds at roughly £800 to £3,000 and regional agencies at £2,000 to £6,000, with running costs for hosting, maintenance, email and security often adding £100 to £300 a month. We default to £3,000 and £50 a month, which is on the gentle side.
Is a pay monthly website always cheaper?+
No. If you can afford the build and run the site cheaply yourself, paying once can work out cheaper over a long enough period. The calculator shows you exactly when that happens, so you can decide with real numbers.
What is included in the Forte monthly price?+
The design and build, hosting, your domain, SSL, security, backups, a Google Workspace email and monthly update time: 30 minutes on Starter, 2 hours on Professional and 5 hours of support on Business. There is no fixed-term contract and no exit fee.
Can I get an exact price for my website?+
Yes. Fill in the form after your results, or call 029 2167 1825. Tell us what your business does and we will recommend a plan and give you the exact monthly cost within one working day. Prefer to write? Use our contact page.
